Yoga can appear to be primarily focused on physical activity. The different yoga poses help develop the physical body, by testing the muscles and making people stronger. It can also loosen the muscles to make you more flexible.

The word yoga itself means "union": of the individual consciousness or soul with the universal consciousness or spirit.
